The Tripartite Secretariat, alongside the Attorney-General and the Special Executive Adviser to the President and Head of the Public Service, Dr Ngaima, convened the first technical consultation on Recommendation 78 of the Tripartite Report, aimed at organising a national dialogue to determine Sierra Leone’s preferred electoral system.

The meeting brought together experts in electoral operations and management who engaged in an open, frank discussion dissecting the Proportional Representation (PR) and First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) systems. The discussion drew upon their professional experience and insights into Sierra Leone’s unique socio-political context.

Representatives from the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL), Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC), Office of National Security (ONS), Sierra Leone Police (SLP), and the Fire Force contributed perspectives rooted in a shared vision for institutionalising an electoral mechanism that supports social wellbeing and fosters governance aimed at enhancing social cohesion.

The consultation series continues on Thursday, 19 June 2025, with the Inter-Religious Council invited for the next round of dialogue.
