29 May 2025 | Freetown, Sierra Leone

The Government of Sierra Leone convened a National Stakeholders Dialogue on Thursday to discuss the implementation of recommendations from the Tripartite Committee on electoral reform, governance, and institutional strengthening.

Chaired by Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, the high-level meeting brought together key stakeholders, including members of the Steering Committee, civil society organisations (CSOs), diplomats, paramount chiefs, development partners, media, and citizens from across the country.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Sengeh stressed the importance of inclusivity, transparency, and civic engagement as cornerstones for advancing governance and public service delivery. He reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing over 80 recommendations from the Tripartite Committee, many of which focus on public participation, legal reforms, and institutional accountability.

The dialogue featured technical updates from Tripartite Secretariat Coordinator Ngolo Katta and a detailed presentation by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice on legal reforms linked to the recommendations and the ongoing constitutional review.

Additionally, the Public Sector Reform Unit presented findings from the Independent Management and Functional Review of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL), supported by the US Government and other partners.

The session concluded with interactive contributions from CSOs, the Mayor of Freetown, and other stakeholders, reflecting a strong national consensus for reform.

This dialogue aligns with President Julius Maada Bio’s agenda for inclusive governance, institutional integrity, and effective service delivery, as Sierra Leone continues to build public trust and strengthen democratic resilience.
