The Tripartite Steering Committee Secretariat has commenced a nationwide public education programme to raise awareness of the Tripartite Recommendations and the status of their implementation.
Activities are underway in the Northern and North-Western districts of Falaba, Koinadugu, Bombali, Tonkolili, Karene, Kambia and Port Loko. The programme is also taking place in the Southern and Eastern regions, covering the districts of Bo, Moyamba, Pujehun, Bonthe, Kenema, Kailahun and Kono. It will end in the Western Region, comprising the Western Area Urban and Western Area Rural districts.
The Coordinator of the Tripartite Secretariat, Ngolo Katta, said the initiative was intended to explain the recommendations and provide citizens with reliable information.
“These engagements are not consultations on any of the recommendations in the Tripartite Report,” he said. “They are civic education activities aimed at explaining the recommendations to citizens and updating them on implementation efforts around the country.”
According to the Secretariat, the programme is aimed at addressing misinformation surrounding the Tripartite process by offering clear and factual explanations. Officials say it also forms part of efforts to promote transparency in the implementation of the recommendations.

Stakeholders taking part in the sessions include district and city councils, devolved sector representatives, traditional authorities, religious leaders, civil society organisations, persons with disabilities, youth and women’s groups, traders, teachers, school pupils, bike riders, drivers and political parties.

The district-level engagements have been approved by the Steering Committee and are funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
