Freetown, 13 August 2025 – The Tripartite Steering Committee Secretariat (TSCS) has partnered with Talking Drum Studio, the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) and the Independent Radio Network (IRN) to boost public understanding of the 80 recommendations from the Tripartite Report.
The meeting took place at the Tripartite Secretariat in Freetown on Wednesday, bringing together the organisations to form a consortium of non-state actors supporting the recommendations’ implementation. Discussions focused on coordinating outreach, using multiple media channels and civic education formats to explain the proposals and gather public feedback.
TSCS Coordinator Ngolo Katta said the partnership was designed to ensure synergy, avoid duplication of effort and make efficient use of resources. “We need a unified approach so citizens fully understand the recommendations, and their concerns can help guide decision-making,” he said.
Alpha Kamara of Talking Drum Studio described the meeting as timely, highlighting the organisation’s role in easing political and civil tensions through cross-party dialogues, town halls and security sector roundtables.
SLAJ stressed the need to train journalists to counter misinformation and fake news, while advocating for a new constitutional chapter on freedom of information and expression. The association’s “I Verify” platform will be strengthened to fact-check content related to the recommendations.
IRN Executive Director, Ransford Wright, outlined plans to produce radio talk shows, news segments and short videos in Krio, combining information and entertainment to reach audiences nationwide.
The initiative, funded by the European Union through International IDEA, aims to strengthen citizen engagement, build trust in electoral institutions and promote acceptance of future election results.
